THE STORY .....
Okay so I get this e mail a couple weeks ago ........ from Ted about the District
37 photos from the late 60's. Seems while Ted was looking for some pics of
himself and his buddy Lee Mott his 'sidehack monkey' from back in the day ....
(with 'beer cans' attached to their helmets) Ted instead finds a few shots of
himself at the old Elsinore TT Scrambles track at night ... racing solo .... In
1968.
Anyway ..... I print a few shots of Ted ..... whom is very gracious for being able
to get a-hold of a few keepsakes from his earlier motorcycle racing years and
offers to put a 'logo' on the Rally Car that he is getting ready for the
re-inaugration of the Mexican 1000 off road race coming up on Sept 16th thru
the 20th 2009. I say 'cool' ..... and so the story goes ..... Lee and I make up a
logo for the car about a week ago ...... and now there is 38 days till the race.
Possible General Tire sponsorship and a few others are going on the race car
also .... so anywhere on the thing with my little logo is still cool beans to me!! :)
As Ted gets the car in his time ready to go racing ..... I will up-date the progress
on this site through the actually rally ..... stay tuned. Relevant links below ......

Update 8/7/2009 Mike Noval, one of the organizers and nephew of
Don Francisco, is doing a documentary on the race ..... and with luck
we might make it to the big screen ...... to be continued ..... :)
Ha .... fun stuff whatever takes place ..... stay tuned .....
Update 8/10/2009 "It's hard to imagine, but less than six months
after your dad took those shots I was in a combat zone (Southeast
Asia) getting shot at with bullets instead of film."
That's what Ted reminded me of today about the 1968 Elsinore
scrambles motorcycle shots of him posted above. And then it was
back to the shop to work on the car.

Update 8/15/2009 Seems Ted has secured partial sponsorship
from ...........
So as Ted puts it ...... "It gets his foot in the door" ..... go Ted !!
31 days till the rally now ....
Update 8/20/2009 Well well ...... lookie what I found here ..... from
the Eslinore Grand Prix in 1972 (the last one) ......... thats Ted
and his side hack monkey Lee Mott .... heading down the road ...
with yes ..... the infamous beer cans on their helmets as advertised.
This pic showed up in the archives after receiving a bit more
identifying information from Lee .... :) #P88 .... on a Honda.
Lee (Doc Mott) has a Custom Sign and Paint Job business that
you can access here .....
And here they are from the same race getting a bit of print .....
More fun stuff to come ..... 26 days till the Rally now ..... and Ted is
back in the shop fine tuning things ... hope to have some snapshots
of the rally car in progress up soon .... stay tuned. :)
RACE POSTPONED: Update 9/8/2009 ..... Hurricane Jimena
made landfall on Sept 3 and affected a major portion of the Baja
Peninsula. NORRA (the organizers of the race) has gone into 'relief'
mode for the victims of the hurricane at this time .... and has
decided to hold the race in early 2010.

Well ....... guess I could start the countdown clock again .... :) In the
meantime prayers to the victims of Hurricane Jimena and help out if
you can at the above links .....
